The Bekisar, or Ayam Bekisar, is the first-generation hybrid offspring of the green junglefowl and domesticated red junglefowl from Java. The roosters have a glossy blackish-green plumage and are highly prized for their loud clear calls and striking colouration, while the hens are usually dull and infertile.
The Bekisar is found predominantly in Java, Indonesia, where it originated. It thrives in environments where both its parent species, the green junglefowl and the red junglefowl, are present. The habitat consists of tropical and subtropical forests, often near human settlements where they may be raised for their vocal abilities.

The Bekisar is known for its unique vocal qualities, which make it especially valued in certain cultures for rooster crowing contests. It is a hybrid rather than a true breed, resulting from crossing the green junglefowl with the domestic red junglefowl. Due to its hybrid nature, Bekisar hens are typically infertile.
